Health Focus: Reduce your LDL cholesterol levels
LDL or “bad” cholesterol causes plaque build-up in your arteries that leads to heart disease, heart attacks, and stroke. Reduce it by doing the following:
▪ Eat foods like avocados, olives, walnuts and almonds that reduce LDL cholesterol
▪ Include foods containing soluble fibre such as oats and beans in your diet
▪ Avoid smoking
▪ Do aerobic and resistance exercise for 30 to 60 minutes a day
▪ Don’t eat trans fats
▪ Increase intake of omega 3 fats that are found in salmon and flaxseeds
