Quadrivalent / Tetravalent Flu Vaccine in Dubai
The tetravalent (also known as quadrivalent) flu vaccine is yet another example of medical innovation and the solutions that cutting edge science is able to provide in this day and age. Who can get the Quadrivalent Flu Vaccine?
As per the guidelines laid out by the Dubai Health Authority, an annual influenza vaccination should be given to infants older than 6 months of age, all children, adolescents, and healthy adults.
Priority should be given to targeted high- risk groups that include people over the age of 65 years, people with diabetes, chronic pulmonary or cardiac conditions, diseases requiring long-term aspirin therapy and chronic renal dysfunction including dialysis. It is also indicated after the first trimester of pregnancy and in travellers who are travelling to an area with a current outbreak.
In addition, for the close household contacts of people who are in the high-risk category, vaccination is a good strategy.
