Health Focus:  Waist Size

Measure yourself with a tape measure around your abdomen midway between your hip bone and ribs.
Irrespective of your height or frame, if your waist measures more than 40 inches for men and more than 35 inches for women who aren’t pregnant, you probably have extra fat around your heart, liver, kidneys, and other internal organs.
This means you are more likely to have heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, and colorectal cancer.
To reduce your risk of the above conditions, reduce your waist size by losing weight to less than 40 inches if you are a man, and less than 35 inches if you are a woman.
